Dra. Martha Catalina Ortiz Robledo

I am a surgeon graduated from Javeriana University in Bogotá, with a specialization in Ophthalmology from the same university. I completed internships in Germany and Spain focusing on anterior and posterior segment surgery, and lacrimal pathways. I also trained in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Pediatric University Hospital de la Misericordia.

Since 1994, I have dedicated my practice to pediatric ophthalmology consultations and surgery, initially at Hospital de la Misericordia. There, I provided patient care and taught second and third-year postgraduate Ophthalmology students from Javeriana, Rosario, and National Universities in Bogotá. Later, I continued my clinical and teaching work at Hospital San Ignacio. Throughout this time, I have also maintained a private practice.

I am a member of the Colombian Society of Ophthalmology, serving as Executive Secretary from 2016-2018. I am also part of the Colombian Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (ACOPE), where I served on the board of directors since 2012, initially as secretary and later as president for the 2014-2016 and 2016-2018 terms. In these roles, I managed professional and scientific affairs, including the planning and execution of national and international courses and congresses. Additionally, I am a board member (2017-2020) of the Latin American Strabismus Council (CLADE), and a member of SOPLA (Latin American Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology), the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO), and AAPOS (American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus).
