Dra. Maria Alexandra Mieth Alviar

I am Dr. ALEXANDRA MIETH ALVIAR, a physician from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. I completed my mandatory social service year and two additional years at Fundación Santa Fé de Bogotá, where I directed the Institution's Eye Bank and conducted multiple research projects in Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, and Anesthesia. Two of these projects earned first prize in National Medical Research. I specialized in Ophthalmology at the National Ophthalmological Foundation, endorsed by the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá. My subspecialty training included a year in Corneal and Refractive Surgery in Tucson (University of Arizona) and Las Vegas (Buzard Eye Institute), followed by two years in Ocular Pathology and Clinical Research at McGill University in Montreal. I have also completed several short internships studying cell cultures at the Bascom Palmer Institute in Miami and Changung Hospital in Taiwan, and an intensive course in visual stimulation for children at The Lighthouse in New York.

For 20 years, my role as Medical and Executive Director of ASOCORNEA (Colombian Association of Cornea and Refractive Surgery) and its Eye Bank has allowed me to collaborate with Bogotá's Transplant Network. More recently, through INVEVISION (Institute for Research in Visual Sciences), I have been researching Regenerative Medicine for ocular tissues. I have developed my own protocols for managing ocular wellness and beauty, allergic oculorhinitis syndromes, and headaches.
