Dra. Joanna Milena Márquez Fernández

I am a specialist in Internal Medicine since 2003, and from the beginning, I have managed patients with hypertension, diabetes, obesity, as well as thyroid conditions like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. My experience with patients led me to focus on diabetes. For this reason, I completed an internship at the Diabetes Research Institute and Jackson Memorial Hospital, affiliated with the University of Miami. This allowed me to attend consultations for other endocrine conditions and motivated me so much that upon returning to Colombia, I decided to subspecialize in Endocrinology. During my specialization, I had the opportunity to travel to Argentina, to the Hospital de Clínicas José de San Martín in Buenos Aires, where I deepened my knowledge of various pathologies such as thyroid cancer, pituitary diseases, adrenal conditions, and bone disorders. I bring certified experience and training, but my greatest strength is my commitment to fostering empathy and clear communication with individuals, always considering their preferences and addressing their concerns.
