Dra. Catalina Trujillo Escobar

I am a Family Medicine specialist, a graduate of the University of Antioquia, and completed my specialization at the University of La Sabana. I am passionate about a holistic view of my patients and working collaboratively. I love teaching, both with my patients—educating them about their conditions and how to manage their health—and with colleagues I've mentored over the years in my undergraduate and postgraduate teaching roles.

Patients with multiple conditions and complex medication regimens are the challenge I enjoy most. I gained this experience while coordinating a high-cost patient program, working with individuals living with HIV, cancer diagnoses, those undergoing renal replacement therapy (dialysis), and heart, liver, and kidney transplant recipients. During that time, my patients taught me to listen, to support, and to strive daily to acquire the knowledge needed to always offer them the most appropriate care. One of the significant challenges I embraced during that period, and now enjoy even more, is guiding patients with diabetes to achieve disease control. This involves optimizing insulin use and medication combinations, alongside the crucial aspects of education and empowerment in healthy lifestyle habits. Consequently, the comprehensive management of cardiovascular and metabolic risk is one of my primary clinical passions.

At my Alma Mater, I learned that 'one who knows only medicine, knows not even medicine.' Following this life principle, I have developed in other fields that complement my professional practice. I am a speaker on topics such as Sexuality, Adolescents, Family, and Family Planning. In 2018, I completed training in the Creighton Model System in Mexico and traveled to Omaha, USA, to study NaProTechnology. Thanks to this education, I am dedicated to supporting women and men in empowering themselves regarding their fertility, building their families, and strengthening their emotional health by making informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health.
