I am a physician and surgeon, a graduate of the University of Antioquia in 2011. After working as a general practitioner for three years, I began my postgraduate studies in Internal Medicine at the same university in 2014, completing my studies in 2017. Since then, I have worked as an internist in emergency services, hospitalization, cardiovascular intensive care, and outpatient consultations.
In addition to my clinical work, I am a professor at CES University in the undergraduate Internal Medicine program.
To enhance the care I provide to my patients, I completed training in clinical research and epidemiology at Harvard University. This allows me to stay updated with a critical reading of scientific evidence to offer the most appropriate care to my patients.
In the practice of medicine and teaching, I have found my greatest passion. I am driven by serving my patients and motivated by positively impacting people's lives.
What is an internist? Internal medicine is responsible for addressing systemic diseases or those affecting different organs of the body. It primarily focuses on medical care from puberty to old age.
Generally, it combines the functions of several specialists and can address various areas of medicine, including cardiology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, pulmonology, among others. Although each specialty plays a vital role in healthcare, an internist has the ability to integrate and complement care. They also help coordinate with other specialists to obtain an accurate diagnosis and initiate the corresponding treatment.
Functions of an internist Internists are trained to intervene in various treatments.
