Dr. Luis Felipe Moncada Zambrano

I am an Optometrist, a graduate of Universidad de la Salle in Bogotá, with 40 years of experience. I am also a Health Audit Specialist from CES University in Medellín. I have worked for 40 years in the field of optometry across various institutions and regions of the country. I served as Sub-manager of the Second Level Hospital, Antonio Roldán Betancur in Apartado, from 2010-2012. I have performed activities in the field of amblyopia, pre-surgical strabismus treatments, and post-surgical strabismus treatments. I take measurements of deviated eyes pre-surgery to assist the surgical professional in defining the procedure. In Bogotá, I worked with Ophthalmologist Jorge Zambrano for strabismus surgery, and in Apartado, I worked with Dr. Cadavid from Servioftalmos. My 40 years of extensive experience have allowed me to detect various ophthalmic and neuro-ophthalmic conditions. I have dedicated myself to academia as a professor at Antonio Nariño University, in the Optometry Faculty, Medellín section, teaching subjects such as Visual Sciences II, Visual Sciences IV, Pediatric Clinic, and Ethics and Legislation. I was a Senior Clinic Tutor for final-semester students at Clínica Nueva Visión in Medellín, where I also served as Chief Optometrist and advise patients requiring refractive surgery. Within my professional experience, I have detected two intracranial tumors: one in a 9-month-old infant in Apartado and another tumor in the chiasm of a 39-year-old patient in Medellín. I fit rigid contact lenses, special contact lenses, reverse curve lenses, limbal contact lenses, scleral contact lenses, and more. I also have recognition and authorization to fit scleral lenses from two North American companies (ROSE K), and ITAL LENT laboratory in Bogotá, Colombia, recognizes me as one of their leading optometrists for contact lens fitting. I frequently provide treatment for myopia, amblyopia, astigmatism, hyperopia, and keratoconus. Additionally, I offer anterior segment ophthalmic emergency services.
