Dr. Jezid Miranda

I am an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, a subspecialist in Perinatology, with a PhD magna cum laude in fetal medicine and a subspecialty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. I am a Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cartagena. I have professional and training experience in academic hospital centers of excellence in the USA and Europe. I was a member of the fetal cardiology and fetal growth/preeclampsia units at the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Service of BCNatal (Barcelona Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine Center – Clinic and San Joan de Deu Hospitals, Barcelona, Spain). I am experienced in maternal support for severe pregnancy complications, fetal pathology evaluation, and was a member of the fetal surgery team, assisting in over 50 surgeries. I am internationally recognized for my applied research experience, focusing on biomarkers in preterm birth and placental pathology, and the prevention of extreme maternal mortality and morbidity. This research has resulted in over 25 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. I serve as an evaluator for COLCIENCIAS in Maternal and Perinatal Health and as an associate reviewer for national and international Obstetrics and Gynecology journals.
