“After spending 6 months contemplating whether or not to have surgery to repair my umbilical hernia, it only took one meeting with Dr. Javier Serrano to finally make the decision to move forward with it. From the first second I met Javier, I felt more comfortable than I ever have before with a surgeon. This is especially impressive considering my first language is English and his, Español. Despite the language gap, we communicated very well and I consider Javier´s level of English sufficient to keep an English-speaking patient well-informed. His demeanor and personality are comforting and relaxed, while still being detailed and informative. Javier even gave me his personal WhatsApp number after the first meeting and promptly answered every question I had leading up to the surgery. I never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision throughout the entire process, just well informed and confident. The surgery was scheduled for 8 days after the initial consultation, the ideal time period I desired. Through discussion and consultation, we also decided to remove 3 benign lipomas and a skin tag that were bothering me as well. The surgery took place at Qlub Quirófanos Oviedo, which beyond impressed me in terms of the cleanliness, state-of-the-art equipment, friendly staff, timeliness, etc. Javier met with me in the lobby prior to the surgery and I can honestly say by the time I went in for the surgery I had not an ounce of worry and was actually excited for the surgery. I was fully confident that Javier and the rest of the medical staff would do their absolute best to fix me up. The entire billed time for the surgery (15 mm umbilical hernia repair, removal of 3 lipomas and one skin tag) was approximately an hour and a half, very efficient from my perspective. The TOTAL cost of the surgery process (consultations, blood work, ultrasound, surgery, surgeon and clinic fees, insurance, post-surgery care, etc.) was approximately $1600 USD, which was beyond fair, especially for Medellin and considering the level of attention and care I received throughout the process. After the surgery, Javier continued to promptly answer any question I had during the recovery process via Whatsapp. The healing process went so well that I didn't need a single pill for pain, how amazing! 5 days post-surgery I met with Javier in-person for a check-up and everything was healing properly. I am writing this review on day 18 (post-surgery) and am still happy to say everything is going as well as I could have expected. I am following the recommended recovery steps diligently and trust in any advice Javier has given. 10/10 rating for Dr. Javier Serrano on my umbilical hernia surgery!”
