Dr. Francisco Tovar Ucros

I am characterized by my human qualities in caring for my patients, and by understanding their condition as something that affects not only their vision but also their entire social and cultural environment. I have extensive experience in outpatient ophthalmology consultations and anterior segment surgical procedures: Cataract surgery, currently with Femtosecond Laser and previously with Phacoemulsification; Cornea Transplants; Intracorneal Ring Implants for Keratoconus; Phakic Lens Implants for high visual defects; Pterygium Surgery with Conjunctival Autograft; Excimer Laser Refractive Surgery (LASIK-LASEK); Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty, etc.). I have been an instructor in Cataract Surgery for various techniques since 1997, and I have trained over 40 ophthalmologists in this procedure at the Sociedad de Cirugía Ocular and Oftalmosánitas for over 15 years. I have presented at national and international conferences on Cataract Surgery and Keratoconus, including topics such as the implantation of Special Intraocular Lenses: Multifocal, Toric, for the correction of associated vision defects. I have been an undergraduate and postgraduate lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology at UNISANITAS since January 2007. I am a full member of several scientific societies: Colombian Society of Ophthalmology (SCO), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and a Board Member of the Colombian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASOCCYR).
