Dr. Erik Garcia Muñoz

I specialize in mental disorders, depression, anxiety, addictions, insomnia, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, pathological gambling, emotional disorders, sleep disorders, and grief. I am a Surgeon and a Specialist in Psychiatry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the National Institute of Psychiatry “Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz” in Mexico. I completed my subspecialty in Addiction Management at the National Institute of Psychiatry “Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz”. This subspecialty focuses on the management of psychiatric patients with addictive problems, also known as dual pathology patients, as well as the pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment of substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors such as pathological gambling, compulsive shopping, or sex addiction.

I have worked in various institutions specializing in psychiatry and addictive disorders, including the Addiction Clinic of the National Institute of Psychiatry, ESE Hospital Carisma, and IPS Servid, where I currently practice.

I also served as director of the University Center for Health and Wellbeing at the Panamerican University of Mexico, focusing on addiction prevention and management among students. I have been a professor for the Bachelor of Medicine, the Psychiatry specialty, and the Addiction Management subspecialty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, for the Pain Management and Palliative Care subspecialty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Hospital Juárez de México, and also for the Mexican Association of Thanatology. Currently, I advise the Health Secretariat of the municipalities of Envigado and Rionegro on mental health aspects, primarily focused on addiction and suicide prevention.

I work as a lecturer at CES and Luis Amigo Universities.
