Dr. Camilo Andres Mejia Ortiz

After graduating from San Bartolome la Merced school, I began my medical studies at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where I was recognized for my collegiality, commitment to patients, and great charisma. Following significant dedication and effort, I graduated from Universidad Militar Nueva Granada as a Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeon. I completed my internships at prestigious centers such as Hospital Militar Central, Hospital San José Centro, Hospital San José Infantil, and Instituto Nacional de Cancerología, among others. During my 5 years of specialization, I received training in burns, hand surgery, maxillofacial surgery, management of congenital conditions, breast cancer, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery. My special rotation took place in Mexico City at Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González, where I deepened my expertise in Microsurgery under the guidance of Dr. Erik Santamaría. Subsequently, I completed a Master's in Microsurgery awarded by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, refining my training with Japanese professor Isao Koshima and my Catalan colleague Dr. Jaime Masía, both global leaders in this specific area of plastic surgery. I have served as a teaching plastic surgeon at Hospital Militar Central, Hospital Simón Bolívar, and Clínica los Nogales. Currently, I practice at Organización Sanitas Internacional, Clínica Colsubsidio, where I am the Head of the Plastic Surgery Department, and maintain my private practice at Centro Médico Dalí. I have published several articles on reconstructive plastic surgery and presented at national and international conferences. I have also volunteered as a plastic surgeon in air brigades organized by the national government to assist underserved individuals in remote areas of the country.
